Time’s excellent history of the electric car

timeCall him geeky, but Greenbang loves this kind of thing: Time has put together a guide to the development of the electric car, including little gems like the CitiCar pictured here.

Did you know, for example, that an electric buggy of sorts in 1903 (the fantastically named Columbia Mark LX Electric Runabout) could get about 40 miles on a single charge — the same distance Chevy’s 2007 Volt can cover before it needs to juice up. Lovely stuff.

what we’re about

Greenbang tracks the explosion of the environmental industry, reporting on news of green innovation and thought leadership.

We blog on this rather than the environmental problems of the world because we are interested in the answers to climate change.
