Canada pledges $1 billion tech fund
This news story warms Greenbang’s cockles almost as much as a seal pup making a charity donation: the world’s favourite north American state, Canada, could soon be creating a $1 billion fund green tech fund.
With an election looming, Canada’s Liberal leader has announced the investment and pledged tax bonuses for Canadian business working on new green technologies, according to the National Post.
“Canada should be the incubator for technologies that will make cars more fuel efficient, so when consumers are shopping for new models our manufacturers reap the benefits.
We should design the clean coal or carbon capture and storage technologies that offer hope to developing countries struggling to grow their technologies while keeping greenhouse gases under control,” [Liberal leader] Mr. Dion said.
