BP backs down on toxic waste dumping

wasteAfter running into a barrage of criticism over its plans to dump more toxic waste into Lake Michigan (while promoting itself as greener-than-thou), it appears that oil giant BP has backed down.

In a press release, the company does its best to sound hard done by:

“We will not make use of the higher discharge limits in our new permit,” said BP America Chairman and President Bob Malone. “We are not aware of any technology that will get us to those limits but we’ll work to develop a project that allows us to do so.  If necessary changes to the project result in a material impact to project viability, we could be forced to cancel it.”

Forced to cancel it?! Oh no.
