Conference eyes ‘Future of the Internet’

internetA growing body of data suggests that in-depth changes are needed to meet the future growth needs of the Internet infrastructure. This year’s “Future of the Internet” conference in Prague, set for 11 to 15 May, will focus on the societal and economic developments of tomorrow’s online Internet and mobile societies.

A total of €1 billion is expected to be invested in the development of the future’s Internet over the next five years. Scientists from more than 90 research projects are currently involved in such studies as part of the European Future Internet Assembly.

A new book also explores Europe’s role in the Internet’s future.

To be published by IOS Press in conjunction with the Prague conference, “The Future of the Internet: A European Research Perspective” features papers describing the major scientific achievements supported by European funding in the area of Future Internet.
