EMC: What do you think of them?

Published Tuesday, 1st December 2009

Blue AbstractHere at Greenbang, we’re trying to get a better handle on how well companies are communicating their sustainability efforts to the public. So we’ll be asking you, our readers, to chime in with your opinions on different organisations.

Today’s company: EMC. Our questions for you follow:

  1. Have you heard of EMC?
  2. Do you know what they do in terms of sustainabiliy?
  3. If yes, what do you think of their sustainability initiatives?
  4. If you could change anything about this company, what would you change?

    Hi Greenbang

I work in IT for a large corporate. Of course I’ve heard of EMC (!), but I have no idea what they do for sustainability.

All data center equipment and data centers use an incredible amount of power so I doubt they do very much even if they say they do.

If I could change anything – not sure that I would at the moment. They’re a strong company and my company has used them for years. Why fix what isn’t broken? Unless you mean from a green perspective, in which case I’d have to say that I don’t have a clue.
