Energy consulting, testing and certification firm KEMA plans to use Green Energy Corporation’s GreenBus software platform to support its Smart Grid Interop Lab.

An advanced test facility that offers independent verification of smart-grid device interoperability, the KEMA lab was designed to help utilities manage risk exposure, verify business case projections and create plans for more effective and efficient smart-grid deployments. The Smart Grid Interop Lab can also be used to test low-voltage automation devices, meters and consumer products to ensure they comply with evolving smart-grid standards.

KEMA plans to use the GreenBus software to help utilities automate processes, capture more real-time grid data and allow applications to securely share data. All those features are aimed at enabling power providers to become more efficient and reduce their operating costs.

“Using GreenBus at KEMA’s Smart Grid Interoperability Lab will not only enable interoperability between applications, but also will provide a platform for innovation, through advanced technologies and design, open-source-derived components, and vendor agnostic functionality,” said Roxy Podlogar, vice president of product strategy at Green Energy Corporation. “This is where innovation begins for both vendors and power providers.”

Green Energy Corporation will design, develop install, and support the monitoring and control of advanced power system applications. KEMA will also use the GreenBus platform to implement a fully functional microgrid test bed.
