Marks & Spencer launches new eco-friendly stores

By Yan Yan on Monday, 10th September 2007

m&sHigh Street retailer Marks & Spencer will soon open its first two ‘green’ stores, in Glasgow and Galashiels–boasting a bunch of eco-friendly features.

Both stores will be powered by windmills, cutting their CO2 emissions and dependence on traditional fuels. They’ll also collect rainwater for the loos and use energy efficient lighting and so on. (Find out more about what it’s doing here.)

The retailer is also switching the labels on much of its clothing to say “Think climate” and advising people to wash at 30 degrees, which dramatically reduces energy consumption. All lovely stuff.
