Car- and bike-maker Škoda today announced the launch of its new Superb GreenLine, a vehicle that can achieve 23.5 kilometers per litre (55.4 miles per gallon) on the combined cycle and has a carbon dioxide output of only 136 grams per kilometer.

Those figures put the Superb GreenLine in the VED band C, earning it an annual road fund licence of just £120 a year.

Among the features that make the vehicle extra fuel-efficient: aerodynamic design and a lower profile to improve airflow around the front end, low rolling resistance tyres and the inclusion of a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel to reduce weight.

The GreenLine also sports a Park Assist system for parallel parking, an adaptive front-light system that adjusts lighting spreads and angles according to road speed and the world’s first production ‘Twindoor’ boot that allows the vehicle to be used either as a saloon or hatchback.
