Suntech, 3rd Rock plan 7.2 MW of new solar projects

solar-panels-in-fieldSuntech Power Holdings Company and 3rd Rock Systems and Technologies Inc. today announced plans to jointly develop 7.2 megawatts of new solar-power installations in the US.

3rd Rock will act as project developer and work to raise funds for the projects while Suntech will be the preferred provider of solar modules and engineering services.

“Combined with our existing pipeline of traditional commercial and utility projects and our growing network of residential installers, this will enable us to directly serve the full breadth of solar customers in the US,” said Steven Chan, Suntech’s Chief Strategy Officer and President of Global Sales and Marketing.

    Looks like Suntech is a company to watch.
    Their “Pluto technology” is achieving over 18% efficiency on monocrystalline cells and close to 17% efficiency on polycrystalline cells in mass production.
    They’ve also gone big into thin-film.
