  • London Mayor Boris Johnson has heralded the capital’s top organisations for saving nearly 120,000 tonnes of carbon, slashing tens of thousands off their energy bills;
  • Friends of the Earth and Health Care Without Harm Europe released a report today detailing the growing public health threat posed by nano-silver particles in consumer products;
  • In a major step towards promoting an energy efficient economy, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the government of Ukraine have agreed on a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP);
  • At times in the distant past, an abrupt change in climate has been associated with a shift of seasonal monsoons to the south, a new study concludes, causing more rain to fall over the oceans than in the Earth’s tropical regions, and leading to a dramatic drop in global vegetation growth;
  • Researchers at the University of Chicago and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have developed an “electronic glue” that could accelerate advances in semiconductor-based technologies, including solar cells and thermoelectric devices that convert sun light and waste heat, respectively, into useful electrical energy.
