Motorsport gets energy efficient

Think of motorsport and you’re probably thinking a quality Sunday afternoon’s TV, the lure of the chequered flag and grotesque amounts of petrol being burnt all in the name of entertainment.
But hold on a second, there’s environmental hope for the gas guzzlers yet. According to a report commissioned by Motorsport Development UK:

“The motorsport industry is shown to be developing key technologies that will be of use not only on the race track but will also bring increased efficiency and performance to other industries, both now and in the future – in particular the automotive, aerospace and transport industries.”

Among the green innovations of the industry to date are the development of a biodegradeable sports car, the creation of a hydrogen-powered vehicle and all-round motorsport hunger for kinetic energy recovery.
Murray Wilson would be proud.
